So I’ve posted that second photo once before. It was from sometime mid 2010.
Soon after I started my roaccutante/accutane/isotretinoin treatment.
I’ve now been off it for about 12 months. I was on roaccutante for a similar amount of time.
It was probably the best choice I’ve made in a long time.
I knew the risks and side effects. I knew the results. For some people the risks out way the results.
Lucky for me the only lasting damage that I seem to have is patches of eczema and overall very dry skin/hair/lips.
I now only break out once a month, which I’m sure a lot of of girls can relate to, and when I do it’s a break out it’s like 3 small pimples.
I’m still not happy with my skin. The first photo is me now, no make up, no photoshop ect.
I have large pores across my nose that bother me, uneven tone, and small scars.
Maybe I’ll never be 100% happy with my skin, but at least I’m comfortable enough to now walk out of the house with just mascara on.
Although I’d like to say for everyone looking to go on roacctuante, use it as a last resort.
I had tried a lot. Maybe everything.
It took a year and half for me to eventually end up going to the dermatologist and seek treatment.
For girls try the ‘the pill’, make sure you change your pillow cases every two nights, if you consume a lot of dairy to to cut some out, adopt a regular skin routine, shop around for the one that suits your skin, make sure you don’t dry your skin out as it will only produce more oil. The list goes on and on. There is a lot of things you can do to help your skin before resorting to roaccutane.
Anyway my skin these days like I mentioned is sensitive, dry, and not prone to break outs so most of the products I use are for dry skin. I love lush, after doing something so harmful to my skin I tend to use only natural products when possible.
Lush’s Angels on Bare Skin – I use this as a daily scrub. I actually find it almost to harsh and drying for my skin to use daily. When it runs out I will be repurchasing Aqua Marina rather than this.
Lush’s Dark Angels – I use this as a exfoliator once or twice a week. It is harsh and drying but amazing at what it does. Some people use it daily but it would kill my skin. Also it practically made out of charcoal and some other fancy stuff so you can reenact the zoolander coal face scene.
Sukin’s Purifying Masque – Love this mask. I usually use it once or twice a week after I exfoliate with Dark Angels. It uses rosehip oil and aloe vera which results in the perfect mask for someone with dry sensitive skin. It’s reasonably price and you will be supporting a great Australian company.
Egyptian Magic – (As you can see all the text has come off my packaging.) This stuff was recommended to me by a make up artist for my lips which are always incredibly dry. It is basically bees wax, oil, some more stuff from bees, and some more oil. I use it on my lips and isolated patches where I get eczema. I love it to death, it’s probably the most expensive facial product I own and only available from Mecca Cosmetics in Australia as far as I know. It last forever though and works like nothing else.
So thats all I use. I’m still on the hunt for the perfect moisturiser
